The Michelin Guide — Official Host City Announcement
Project Overview
When the world’s ultimate gastronomic authority announced its official ceremony location, the production required establishing visuals that matched the prestige, elegance, and scale of the Michelin brand. Pixel Polar Studio was trusted to provide the definitive opening imagery of Rio de Janeiro for their global promotional campaign.
The Creative Challenge & Direction
Capturing a world-famous landmark like Christ the Redeemer requires bypassing the clichés of standard tourism footage. The objective was to capture the monument not just as a location, but as a monument emerging from the dawn. This required an intense pre-production sun-angle study weeks prior to the shoot. We calculated the exact azimuth and elevation of the sun to ensure that the moment it broke over the Atlantic horizon, it would create a razor-sharp rim light (backlighting) across the stone silhouette of the statue, casting a premium, golden glow over the entire landscape.
Technical Execution & Equipment
The sequence was executed during a high-stakes, single-window dawn session. Utilizing a professional Mavic platform, the flight path was programmed to deliver a slow, sweeping cinematic parallax effect.
- Acquisition Profile: Recorded in native 4K Ultra-High Resolution using a high-bitrate professional .MOV container, preserving maximum dynamic range in the highlights of the sunrise and the deep shadows of the Tijuca rainforest below.
- Color Science: Captured with a flat, high-latitude profile, allowing colorists at the agency level to map the footage seamlessly into their high-end commercial pipeline.
Airspace Safety & Legal Compliance
Operating heavy or professional drone equipment over restricted federal monuments in Brazil demands flawless logistics. Pixel Polar Studio handled 100% of the legal infrastructure. The flight was meticulously coordinated, requested, and officially cleared by ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) and DECEA (Department of Airspace Control). This strict compliance guarantees corporate clients zero copyright, legal, or airspace liabilities when licensing our catalog.

TV Editorial Campaign: "Conclave" on Euronews Network
Project Overview
Euronews, one of Europe’s leading multi-language news television networks, required powerful, atmospheric, and highly specific documentary-grade imagery to anchor their international broadcast covering the historic Papal Conclave at the Vatican.
The Storytelling Opportunity
Unlike commercial advertising, broadcast journalism demands high authentic storytelling value. This asset was captured during a dedicated documentary expedition through Italy. While the initial production manifest called for standard architectural coverage of Rome, our team adapted instantly when faced with a rare visual event: heavy, highly dramatic, layered cloud formations moving over the Holy See, combined with visible scaffolding and maintenance around the historic Sistine Chapel chimney. Recognising the visual metaphor of transition and anticipation, we immediately locked down the sequence.
Technical Execution & Equipment
To achieve a compression of space that emphasizes the overwhelming scale of St. Peter’s Basilica against the heavy sky, we moved away from wide-angle lenses and opted for a high-end telephoto setup.
- Camera System: Full-Frame Sony A7IV mirrorless platform, utilizing its advanced sensor readout to maximize low-light performance under heavy overcast conditions.
- Optics: Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 telephoto lens, locked down at the tighter end of the focal range to compress the background elements and draw the viewer directly into the architectural details.
- Stabilization: High-grade fluid head tripod paired with the lens's internal optical stabilization to eliminate high-frequency micro-jitters, delivering a solid, unshakable broadcast-ready master file.
LATAM Airlines Rio de Janeiro Commercial Campaign
Project Overview
Commercial licensing of original aerial footage of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for a promotional broadcast and digital campaign by LATAM Airlines. The licensed footage highlights Rio's iconic landscape, delivering cinematic visual scale to showcase key travel destinations across South America.
The Production Planning & Composition
Capturing the vibrant energy of Copacabana and Rio de Janeiro required strategic twilight scheduling to align with civil twilight and golden hour lighting. Our team designed a dynamic aerial path tracing the curve of the shoreline while capturing the luminous cityscape and coastal atmosphere, creating an inviting visual signature for international travelers.
The Visual Narrative & Atmosphere
The resulting master sequence delivers rich contrast and vivid evening hues across the coastline, seamlessly connecting natural beauty with metropolitan sophistication. This elevated visual treatment allowed LATAM Airlines to convey the premium, adventurous, and inspiring experience of South American travel in prime broadcast advertising.
Technical Execution & Equipment
Precision aerial cinematography executed in high-resolution master format for broad multi-platform distribution:
- Platform: Professional aerial platform calibrated for extreme dynamic range in low-light twilight environments.
- Resolution & Color: Shot in pristine 4K UHD with wide dynamic range color profiling to preserve fine twilight gradients across ocean waves and city illumination without compression banding.
